Food safety in the UAE — your questions

Food safety & compliance FAQs

Straight answers to the questions food and hospitality businesses across the UAE ask us most.

Who regulates food safety in Dubai and the UAE?

Food safety in Dubai is overseen by Dubai Municipality's Food Safety Department, and in Abu Dhabi by ADAFSA. Both require food businesses to run HACCP-based systems and appoint a trained Person-in-Charge. We help you meet these rules across every emirate.

Does my food business need a Person-in-Charge (PIC)?

Yes. Dubai Municipality and other UAE authorities require food establishments to have a trained Person-in-Charge responsible for day-to-day food safety. We provide accredited PIC training in English and Arabic.

What is HACCP and is it required in the UAE?

HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) is a preventive food safety system and the foundation of UAE food regulation. Most food businesses need a documented HACCP plan — we build and train yours around how you actually operate.

How do I prepare for a Dubai Municipality food inspection?

Keep your HACCP system, PIC records, temperature logs and cleaning schedules current, and fix issues before the inspector arrives. Our mock inspections and gap analysis get you inspection-ready.

Do you deliver food safety training in Arabic?

Yes. We deliver food hygiene, PIC, HACCP and health & safety training in both English and Arabic, on-site or online, to suit multilingual teams across the UAE.

Which certification do UAE businesses need — ISO 22000, BRCGS or IFS?

It depends on your customers. Many UAE manufacturers and suppliers need a GFSI-recognised certificate such as ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, BRCGS or IFS. As an approved BRCGS and IFS partner, we prepare you for the right one.
